Puerto Viejo
A few kilometers from South Cahuita there is one of the most loved locations by the local and foreign tourists: Puerto Viejo. This location offers wonderful sandy beaches and its coast shows protected coves where the sea makes natural swimming pools of crystalline water. To increase the location attractions there is Punta Pirripli, the favorite place for surfers, because here you can find the strongest wave of Costa Rica which breaks on the coral reef with the amazing drop known as “Salsa Brava” (brave salsa). Manzanillo-Limón
At about 13 kilometers from Puerto Viejo, the quiet town of Manzanillo rises in the south of the coast road which winds up from Puerto Viejo towards the South. Here the asphalt and paved roads leave room for a long string of uncontaminated beaches wetted by turquoise sea waters. You can get to the Panama border in a few minutes by car towards the South even if the official passageway is located near Sixaola.

Manzanillo is the classic Caribbean town with the typical little houses on piles, painted with the shining Caribbean colors. The friendly local people speak both Spanish and slang English known here and in Jamaica as “patois”.

The village is located in the protected nature reserve of Gandoca-Manzanillo and is surrounded by the tropical forest. Thanks to the co-operation of local people and the law made by the national government, the natural reserve shelters the white sandy beaches, the barrier reef, the nests of turtles and all water paths drawn by the canals. In the Manzanillo area the tourists can choose a wide range of free time activities such as snorkeling, kayak, surfing, swimming or guided tours in the reserve to discover the life of sea turtles.

All people who love the open air life, nature and environment can see Manzanillo as an important reference point for their excursions, because this location is famous in the world thanks to its role in the protection of flora and fauna.
